Walking Trails Lefkada Island
Lefkada Island is known for its stunning coastline, turquoise waters and traditional villages,
Lefkada offers guests a perfect blend of natural beauty, adventure and relaxed island life.
The island is easily accessible by road from mainland Greece, making it one of the most convenient
islands in the Ionian to begin your catamaran based walking holiday.
With its turquoise waters, dramatic coastline and welcoming villages, Lefkada offers an amazing welcome.
Walking Trails
The walking trails offer a mix of coastal walks, walks past the many historical sites, walks through olive groves,
explore small villages, fishing ports, churches, beaches and bays.
Nikiana to Kolivata
One of our favorite walking trails on Lefkada is from the small port of Nikiana. The trail asends slowly up to the village of Kolivata.
This is an ancient path, known locally as 'monopati', and winds its way through ancient oak forests. There are
some amazing views from the trail over-looking the turquise water of the Ionian Sea towards Meganisi Island and beyond.
Kolivata is known as the hidden gem of Lefkada Island and is a charming village with ancient architecture and traditional
Greek atmosphere. Enjoy wondering through the narrows streets as it's like stepping back in time.
Nidri Waterfalls
Another great walking trail to the Nidri Waterfalls. We start at the port of Nidri and follow the trail through
olive groves, entering the forested area and following the river up to the waterfalls. As you walk, enjoy seeing the lush
Mediterranean vegetation, including fragrant wild herbs like thyme and oregano, towering pine trees, and vibrant wildflowers
that bloom in the spring. On arrival to the falls you are surrounded by steep cliffs, creating a dramatic and picturesque setting.
The combination of water, rocks, and greenery creates an ideal spot for photography and memorable personal snapshots.
After enjoying the walk to the falls and getting some great photos, you can take a dip in
the fresh and clear pools at the bottom of the falls.
On our return we retrace our steps back to Nidri, taking in the scenery from a different
perspective, enjoying the downhill trail back along the river. This walk is a favorite for
nature lovers and keen walkers.
