Detailed Itinerary


-- Day 1 : Arrival --

Arrive Aktion Airport, Preveza (PVK) -- Transfer to Lefkada Island -- Overnight Catamaran 'JOY'.

You can arrive at Aktion Airport at anytime, we will arrange for you to be met and transferred (+/- 50-mins) to Lefkada Island.

When you arrive, we will get you settled onto the catamaran and you can spend some time enjoying the area with its small local beaches, mini-markets, shops, water-front tavernas and cocktail bars.

Lefkada Island is located between Corfu Island and Kefalonia Island and is surrounded by the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea. The island has a dramatic landscape with vertical rocky cliffs, mountainous areas with valleys and gorges leading to some beautiful, traditional and friendly Greek villages.

-- Day 2 : Walk Lefkada Island --

Walk Lefkada Island -- Sail to Meganisi Island -- Overnight Catamaran 'JOY'.

One of our walking trails starts from the small port of Nikiana and ascends slowly up to the village of Kolivata. This is an ancient path, known locally as 'monopati', and winds its way through ancient oak forests. There are some amazing views from the trail over-looking the turquoise water of the Ionian Sea towards Meganisi Island and beyond. Kolivata is known as the hidden gem of Lefkada Island and is a charming village with ancient architecture and traditional Greek atmosphere. Enjoy wandering through the narrows streets as it's like stepping back in time.

Another great walk is the walking trail to the Nidri Waterfalls. We start at the port of Nidri and follow the trail through olive groves, entering the forested area and following the river up to the waterfalls. The water is so fresh and clear, very tempting to have a quick dip in the pools at the bottom of the falls.

After the walking we head towards Meganisi Island, stopping along the way in Abelike Bay which has amazing clear blue waters, a beach front taverna and is perfect for snorkelling, swimming, kayaking and even another walk over to the small port of Vathy. Enjoy an evening meal at a small beach front taverna with its own private beach and amazing food.

-- Day 3 : Walk Meganisi Island --

Walk Meganisi Island -- Sail to Kalamos Island -- Overnight Catamaran 'JOY'.

Today our walking trail starts from Little Vathy on Meganisi, a delightful quayside village with tavernas, shops and coffee shops.

The walking trail heads towards Port Atheni, home to local fishing boats and yachts. The trail follows along the coast to Elia Beach, where we can stop for a swim or just enjoy the remote beach. We continue on towards Katomeri, a traditional village located on a hill over-looking Little Vathy. Enjoy panoramic views across to Kalamos and the mountains of mainland Greece.

Katomeri has a maze of narrow streets, with vibrant colourful flowers decorating the traditional stone houses. After spending some time enjoying the atmosphere of the village, we make our way back to the village of Little Vathy.

After the walk we depart Meganisi and head towards Kalamos stopping in one of the small bays or beaches for a swim, to SUP or enjoy kayaking. In the evening you can enjoy dinner at one of the local tavernas or maybe a BBQ.

-- Day 4 : Walk Kalamos Island --

Walk Kalamos Island -- Sail to Kastos Island -- Overnight Catamaran 'JOY'.

Kalamos Island is a mountainous island known for its luscious vegetation and tall vertical pine trees which grow right up to the coastline with beaches of smooth white pebbles leading into the clear blue sea.

Today we start our walking trail by heading to the amazing Agrapidia beach with its old seafront windmill and clear blue water before we head back through Kalamos and follow the forested coastline between the villages of Kalamos Port and Episkopi on the north of Kalamos. Highlights of this walking trail includes the Venetian Castle of Kalamos from 13th century BC, Greek Chapels, windmills, forested areas and the quaint village of Kalamos with is winding streets.

From Episkopi we head towards Formikoula Island which has amazing clear blue waters and is perfect for snorkelling, swimming, kayaking and there is even a chance to spot the rare Monk Seal. From here we head to Kastos Island where we will anchor, explore Kastos Town and enjoy dinner at one of the traditional tavernas on Kastos Island.

-- Day 5 : Walk Kastos Island --

Walk Kastos Island -- Sail to Ithaka Island -- Overnight Catamaran 'JOY'.

Kastos is the smallest of the islands that we will walk and explore. The island is the least inhabited of the Ionian islands with around 50 permanant residents and lies to the east of Kalamos.

The highlights of Kastos Island include the ancient olive groves, old windmills, secluded bays with crystal clear water and a small village. The walking trails are easy to moderate, following the coastal paths along the sea, visiting the small coves and beaches. The trail crossing Halkierini Hill to Poros Peak offers some wonderful views towards Kalamos Island and the Greek mainland.

In the afternoon we depart Kastos and head for Ithaca Island stopping along the way at Atokos Island, famous for its family of black pigs that live on the beach and even occassionally take a swim! Enjoy a swim, snorkel or explore the beach on a SUP.

Ithaca lies to the east of Kefalonia and is famous for its many walking trails including the famous Odysseus trail which passes through centuries old olive groves, stone huts, chapels and windmills leading to different village and fishing ports spread along the amazing rugged coast. It has large mountainous areas forested with pine, oak and fir trees, leading small secluded beaches.

When we arrive you can spend some time exploring the quaint picturesque village of Kioni with its amazing shops, tavernas, restaurants and cocktail bars. Enjoy dinner at one of the amazing restaurants overlooking the bay.

-- Day 6 : Walk Ithaca Island --

Walk Ithaka Island -- Sail to Fiscardo, Kefalonia -- Overnight Catamaran 'JOY'.

For our walk today we head to Stavros, the main village of north Ithaka and the best location to walk the famous Odysseus trail.

The village of Stavros has amazing architectural buildings, a unique village square and houses a small reproduction of the Odysseus Palace and is a great location to start a walking trail that heads toward the Odysseus Palace (also known as the School of Homer). The walk offers amazing scenic views and a chance to see this eighth century BC palace.

At the site of the Odysseus Palace, there are the remains of several buildings dating back to the Mycenaean period as well as the ruins of the church of St. Athanasios which was built on the ancient palace. Our walking trail continues through the small village of Platrithias, consisting of traditional venetian white houses and continues down towards the lovely small port town of Frikes which is located on the northwest of Ithaca Island. Frikes was first inhabited in the 16th century and has two well maintained windmills that look down on the harbour. Frikes is the harbour referred to by Homer as Reithron.

After the walking we depart Ithaca Island and head to Fiscardo on Kefalonia Island. Kefalonia is one of the more well-known islands in the Ionian. It is one of the larger islands and has many beautiful places to visit. The hills are covered with cypresses and Olive trees and the coastline is met by the crystal-clear waters of the Ionian Sea.

When we arrive, spend some time exploring the stunning village of Fiscardo with its fantastic shops, tavernas and restaurants. Enjoy dinner at one of the restaurants and enjoy the unique vibe of Fiscardo.

-- Day 7 : Walk Kefalonia Island --

Walk Kefalonia Island -- Sail to Sivota, Lefkada -- Overnight Catamaran 'JOY'.

Our walk this morning starts from Fiscardo, we make our way through wooded areas passing by a Venetian lighthouse and along the coast, exploring the small bays and beaches. We then venture inland towards the traditional settlement of Germenata, where there are spectacular uninterrupted views of neighboring islands of Ithaka and Lefkada. After taking in the views, we walk towards Foki bay where we get the chance to explore the hidden tunnels of Foki bay, which are up to 100m deep and were once used for storing German ammunitions during wartime.

After the walking we depart Kefalonia and head back towards Sivota Bay on Lefkada Island. On the way we will stop to explore one of the bays and enjoy the crystal clear water. When we arrive in Sivota Bay, you will have a chance to explore the area and enjoy the fantastic water front tavernas, souvenir shops and maybe have a cocktail or two.

-- Day 8 : Departure --

Transfer to Aktion Airport, Preveza (PVK) or other drop-off points (as required).

In the morning if you have time (depending on flights) you can take a walk around Sivota Bay.

After breakfast and maybe a last round of souvenir shopping, its time to say farewell (until the next time).

Your flights can depart Aktion Airport (PVK) at anytime, we will arrange the transfers for you.

Other drop-off points can be arranged, just let us know what you require.
